The 2025 season of BMW M Motorsport ends on an enthusiastic note, marked by dazzling victories and a few disappointments. Between the feats of the BMW M Hybrid V8 and the triumphs of the M4 GT3 and GT4, the competition has been rich in emotions. Let’s dive into the highlights of this thrilling season, like a fine vintage that excites the taste buds of enthusiasts.
LMDh: A Promising Start with Some Pitfalls
The season for the BMW M Hybrid V8 started under the best auspices, like a fireworks display at a concert. Dries Vanthoor shone by securing four consecutive pole positions at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. At the end of this first round, the results were encouraging: a double win at Road America, accompanied by two third places at Long Beach and Laguna Seca. However, the second half of the season revealed some flaws for the BMW M Team WRT, leaving a bitter taste after so many initial promises.
Key Data: The BMW M Hybrid V8 covered over 70,000 kilometers in races during this season, including about 39,000 in the FIA WEC and nearly 31,000 in the IMSA Series. During 36 days of testing, nearly 33,000 kilometers were covered — a true marathon on wheels!
GT3: A Triumphant Season with a Highlight
The BMW M4 GT3 made a name for itself throughout the 2025 season, showcasing dazzling form. It all began with a double podium at the Bathurst 12 Hours, with a performance that set the stage for the EVO version. The cherry on top? The resounding victory of ROWE Racing at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, thereby consolidating BMW M Motorsport’s record with a 21st success in this “Green Hell”.
Other notable successes include victories by Team WRT at the Suzuka 1000KM and the Indianapolis 8 Hours. The Paul Miller Racing team also made its mark, reaping laurels in the GTD-PRO category at the 6 Hours of Glen and Petit Le Mans. The main titles won in 2025 are impressive: the drivers’ and teams’ titles in the GT World Challenge Europe as well as those for drivers and manufacturers in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, where BMW M Motorsport secured four wins out of five races of the season.
Key Data: Approximately 56 BMW M4 GT3s were entered worldwide in 2025, most of which were EVO models. More than 80 victories were recorded, accompanied by over 100 podiums, with an impressive total of over 400,000 kilometers covered in races.
GT4: Over 100 Victories and Domination at Nürburgring
The little brother of the M4 GT3, the BMW M4 GT4, also managed to shine during this season. The biggest successes took place at Nürburgring. During the 24-hour race, Team AV Racing by BLACK FALCON triumphed in the SP10 category with the EVO. Similarly, FK Performance Motorsport won nine out of ten races in the SP8T category of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), ensuring overall victory in the NLS standings for drivers Nick Wüstenhagen and Ranko Mijatovic.
Despite the absence of titles in major European series like the GT European Series and ADAC GT4 Germany, the BMW M4 GT4 EVO dominated GT4 America at all levels. Thanks to remarkable results from GT4 teams, BMW M Motorsport clinched the SRO manufacturers’ title in the GT4 category.
Key Data: In 2025, no fewer than 88 BMW M4 GT4s were entered worldwide. They achieved over 100 victories and around 150 podiums, while covering approximately 330,000 kilometers in competition.
Esports World Cup: Title Retained with Brilliance
BMW M Motorsport is not limited to real circuits; it also excels in the virtual world. Its three racing teams continued their success streak in 2025. The highlight was undoubtedly the Esports World Cup (EWC), an intense competition on the “Rennsport” platform. For the second consecutive time, BMW M Team Redline triumphed thanks to the remarkable performances of Luke Bennett, Sebastian Job, Jeffrey Rietveld, and Kevin Siggy.
A Word from Andreas Roos (Director of BMW M Motorsport)
“Overall, we look back with satisfaction on the 2025 season. Thanks to everyone whose hard work contributed to these record results. With our BMW M Hybrid V8, we had a promising start but hoped for better results on the track. Although we celebrated a double win at Road America, our expectations were higher. We will analyze all of this this winter to come back even stronger in 2026 with an updated version.”
“Regarding the BMW M4 GT3, it was almost a waking dream: the titles won in some of the most prestigious GT3 series and the individual victories at Nürburgring and Bathurst are highlights. I am also thrilled with the performance of the BMW M4 GT4, which symbolizes our close link with customer racing, particularly in the GT4 category. In 2026, we will add the BMW M2 Racing as a new entry-level car to complete our lineup.”
