Munich. After twelve successful years, the collaboration between BMW M Motorsport and Jesse Krohn is coming to an end. Both parties have agreed not to extend the factory driver’s contract, which expires after the 2025 season. As new challenges await, it is time for Krohn to take flight.
An exceptional journey
Jesse Krohn is not an ordinary driver. His meteoric rise began in 2014 when he was crowned “BMW M Motorsport Junior of the Year.” At that time, this young Finnish man, just 24 years old, stood out among his competitors in BMW M Motorsport’s talent promotion program. This is how he became part of the large BMW M family, carving his way through prestigious competitions such as the ADAC GT Masters and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
Memorable victories
In 2017/2018, Krohn secured his first title in the GT category of the Asian Le Mans Series. However, it was truly in 2016, when he made his debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, that he began to make a name for himself. The following years were marked by success, notably with a remarkable performance at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2019, where he shared the wheel with the legendary Alessandro Zanardi in the BMW M8 GTE.
In 2020, he triumphed in the GTLM category at this same American endurance event, adding a championship title in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup alongside his teammate John Edwards. In 2024, he joined the BMW M Motorsport Hypercar program, participating in the entire IMSA season with the BMW M Hybrid V8 from BMW M Team RLL, even winning the famous “Battle on the Bricks” in Indianapolis.
A glorious final act
The 2025 season is already shaping up to be a turning point in Krohn’s career, with his first overall success at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and a victory in the 3-hour race of the GT World Challenge Europe at the Grand Prix circuit in Eifel. After twelve years, he is one of the longest-serving members of the BMW M Motorsport family.
Emotional farewells
Andreas Roos, head of BMW M Motorsport, praised Krohn’s journey: “I would like to warmly thank Jesse Krohn for these twelve years spent at BMW M Motorsport. I have come to know an extremely reliable driver, ready to give his best. His career is the perfect example of a successful promotion of young talent.” A tribute that highlights Krohn’s considerable impact on the team.
Words from Jesse Krohn
For his part, Jesse Krohn expressed his gratitude: “These twelve years have been long and fruitful. I am very grateful for all the opportunities I have had. BMW M Motorsport has allowed me to become a professional driver, and I have had the privilege of being part of most of BMW M’s flagship programs.” He concludes on a hopeful note: “All good things come to an end, but exciting new challenges await me. I wish all the team members the best for the future.”
As Jesse Krohn prepares to take on new challenges, his time at BMW M Motorsport will remain etched in the annals of motorsport. To discover more fascinating news about the world of racing and BMW, feel free to check out our Automotive News section.
