When a supercar enthusiast crosses paths with Porsche, it’s not just a simple service, but a true resurrection. Imagine a time machine capable of bringing a 2005 Carrera GT back to its original state while infusing it with a personal touch. Welcome to the fascinating world of “Factory Re-Commissioning”.

The magic of Sonderwunsch

If you thought that automotive luxury was measured solely by engine power or acceleration speed, think again. At Porsche, the Sonderwunsch division, literally “special request”, is a sanctuary for those who wish to turn their automotive dreams into reality. It is here that cars like this Carrera GT are given a second life, much like a phoenix rising from its ashes.

This visionary owner decided to completely disassemble his supercar to provide it with a full technical overhaul and a new interior and exterior look. The process is meticulous: every bolt, every screw is inspected, and everything is restored to new. Porsche calls this “Factory Re-Commissioning”, a name that sounds almost like a sacred promise in the automotive universe. Recently, a Cayenne GTS with the rare six-speed manual transmission also benefited from this delicate attention. But let’s return to our beautiful Carrera GT.

An inspired facelift

This Carrera GT no longer resembles the car that left the Leipzig factory two decades ago. Indeed, its owner requested Porsche to change the color from its elegant metallic silver to a racing livery inspired by the legendary 917 that triumphed at Le Mans in 1970. This 917, driven by Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood, proudly displayed the colors of Salzburg. The result? A stunning paint job that attracts all eyes like fireworks on a starry night.

The bodywork has been carefully protected by a clear film, as our enthusiast has no intention of letting his precious supercar gather dust in a climate-controlled garage. No, he prefers to drive it on the roads and feel the thrill of sporty driving.

Details that make all the difference

Beyond the new paint, this Carrera GT also stands out with matte black carbon accents and the race number “23”, adding a touch of authenticity to its already sporty appearance. The engine cover grilles are now anodized in matte black, while the wheels finished in black enhance this bold contrast with the red and white of the main theme.

Inside, the transformation is just as impressive. The cabin has been completely redone with a generous use of red Alcantara, enveloping the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, and even the center console. One could almost believe they are in a cocoon of luxury where every detail has been designed for sensory pleasure. And to top it all off, a matching luggage set rests in the front trunk, as if eagerly awaiting a getaway on the winding roads of the Alps.

A model of exclusivity

This Carrera GT is one of 1,270 units built between the fall of 2003 and May 2006. At its launch, it sold for around €450,000. But what does price matter if you can drive a work of art on wheels? The cost of this transformation? Impossible to put a price on such pure happiness, and fortunately for Victor Gómez, the passionate owner, he seems delighted with his decision.

‘Now, I own a Carrera GT in like-new condition, with zero kilometers on the odometer, and an exterior and interior according to my personal ideas.’

With such a statement, it’s easier to understand why some of us are willing to shell out staggering amounts to live our automotive dreams. In short, this Carrera GT is not just a vehicle: it is a unique piece where history meets exceptional craftsmanship.
