This evening, the automotive world will resonate with the roaring engines of Toyota and Lexus. For the first time, these two brands will unveil two supercars simultaneously, accompanied by an exclusive race car. A moment to experience live for all enthusiasts!
A double spectacle
It is rare for an automaker to choose to present two flagship models on the same day. Usually, each premiere takes place separately, so that one does not overshadow the other. But Toyota has decided to break this rule by announcing the revelation of its new supercars during the same event. And that’s not all: a third vehicle, dedicated to the circuits, will also be presented. Even better, we will have the opportunity to follow this premiere live.
A live broadcast not to be missed
Toyota has set up a livestream for the presentation of its “new sports models.” The event will last half an hour, but there is a small issue: the reveal starts on December 5 at 11 AM Japan time. For Europeans, this means an early wake-up call at 2 AM GMT or 3 AM CET. On the other hand, for our American friends, it will just be a matter of tuning in for a start at 9 PM (Eastern Time) tonight.
The stars of the show: GR GT and Lexus Sports Concept
So, what can we expect from this premiere? The Toyota GR GT and the production version of the Lexus Sports Concept will be the stars of the show, accompanied on stage by a GT3 race car from Gazoo Racing. All three are widely expected to be powered by an all-new V8 engine, announced last October at the Japan Mobility Show by Takashi Uehara, president of Toyota’s engine division.

A power that promises to impress
We can expect this new engine to offer much more power than the LFA’s atmospheric V10, which already developed 553 horsepower thanks to its 4.8-liter displacement co-developed with Yamaha. By adding a twin-turbo system and at least one electric motor, the combined power could easily exceed that of the LFA, even with a smaller combustion engine. Rumors suggest impressive power figures ranging from 800 to 900 horsepower, but let’s wait for the official numbers to confirm these speculations.
A head-turning design
On the design side, the mystery has long been lifted. Toyota had already presented a taste of the GR GT in January 2022 at the Tokyo Auto Salon with the GR GT3 concept. Additionally, camouflaged prototypes have been spotted, revealing a seductive silhouette. We even got a glimpse of the interior earlier this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. No need for a manual selector here, but we can already see a small selector for the automatic transmission.

Names that inspire dreams
It will be interesting to see what names and badges these vehicles will ultimately bear. For the Toyota model, it is expected to be called “GR GT,” but with a little surprise: it might not display the Toyota logo, as the brand is considering making Gazoo Racing an independent entity.
As for the Lexus model, settling for a simple “Sports” would be too vague. Early rumors suggest it could bear the name “LFR,” although this has never been confirmed. For a long time, it was thought there would only be one car, the Lexus LFR, without a companion model from Toyota. We now know that each brand will have its own supercar, as well as a race car to replace the old RC F GT3 in Gazoo Racing’s GT3 campaign.
Prices to anticipate
We can bet that these two models will have prices exceeding $100,000. Remember that a GR GT prototype was tested against the previous generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT, clearly showing that Toyota is aiming high. For reference, you cannot buy a current AMG GT with a V8 for less than $139,400; the hybrid model starts at $203,450. Therefore, the new Toyota and Lexus models could fall between these two coupes from Affalterbach.
After today’s grand unveiling, we could see the two cars homologated for circulation at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2026 before their expected sale later in the year.
