After a femur injury that sidelined him, Fermín Aldeguer hopes to return to the circuits quickly. The best rookie of the 2025 season is focusing on his recovery while aiming for the American races to make his grand return. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see him back on his Ducati Gresini.
A Prolonged Absence
Fermín Aldeguer’s absence may extend well beyond just a few weeks. The young prodigy, who made a strong impression during his first season in MotoGP, fractured his femur on January 8 during training. Surgery was deemed necessary, and for now, the Gresini team has confirmed that he will not be present at the upcoming Sepang test. This situation leaves fans wanting more, but it could last another two months before Aldeguer is seen on his bike again.
Recovery Comes First
Unable to travel to Kuala Lumpur for the Gresini team presentation, Aldeguer participated in the event via video conference. Although he has not confirmed his absence for all winter tests or for the Thailand GP, he expressed his desire to return for the American tour races, particularly those in Brazil and the United States. “Unfortunately, I can’t be there, but the most important thing is the recovery of my femur,” he stated. On screen, he showed his enthusiasm and determination to get back on the asphalt.
A Clear Goal
Aldeguer remains cautious about his return: “I hope [to return] as soon as possible, but right now, I can’t set a date or a race.” He has clear objectives and would like to be operational for the Brazil GP or, at the very least, for the Austin Grand Prix. However, everything will depend on his medical examinations and how he feels with his leg. “I am getting closer to the bike all the time, but now I need to continue my recovery at home,” he added.
A Tight Schedule
The 2025 season will start on March 1 in Mandalika. However, the MotoGP schedule includes a three-week break before moving to Goiânia and Austin, separated by a week. This timing could work in Aldeguer’s favor, giving him a bit more time to refine his rehabilitation and hope for a return to competition under the best conditions.

Fermín Aldeguer’s Ducati Gresini remains without a rider for now.
Support from the Gresini Team
On Gresini’s side, management is not pressuring Aldeguer. No replacement rider has been announced to date. Michele Masini, the team’s sporting director, stated: “We wish Fermín a speedy recovery and will give him the necessary time to return at 100%.” The team seems to be showing patience, aware of their young rider’s capabilities.
Aspirations for the Future
Michele Masini is already looking ahead, hoping that Aldeguer can capitalize on his first season in MotoGP, which was marked by a memorable victory at the Indonesia GP. “Last year, he showed his immense talent with a victory. This year, it will be crucial to find consistency on the track as every Friday, every GP, will be different from last year,” he added. Expectations are therefore high for this new season.
Increased Competition
Aldeguer will not be the only one missing the Sepang test. Jorge Martín, also injured after two surgeries in December, has decided to take it easy and will be present as a spectator in Sepang. He is expected to participate in the Mandalika test just before the Thailand GP. The absence of Aldeguer and Martín opens the door for other riders who will try to make a name for themselves during these initial tests.
For speed and adrenaline enthusiasts, MotoGP promises to be rich in twists and turns this season once again. It remains to be seen if Fermín Aldeguer will be able to rise to the challenge that awaits him. In the meantime, fans can expect an exciting spectacle.
