Record Sales for BMW M in 2025
BMW’s M division has once again proven its resilience, achieving record sales even amid debates over its design choices. In 2025, the M badge notched its 14th consecutive year of record sales, showcasing a strong appeal to performance enthusiasts.

Sales Figures and Breakdown
- BMW M sold a total of 213,457 vehicles in 2025, marking a 3.3 percent increase from the previous year.
- Approximately 71,500 of these were pure M models, including the M2, M3, M4, and M5.
- The remaining 141,957 were M Performance models like the M340i and the i4 M60.
Top-Selling Models
The BMW M2 emerged as the best-selling high-performance model, but the overall top seller in the M lineup was the X3 M50, which surpassed the previous year’s leader, the electric i4 M50.

The X3 M50’s success comes despite ongoing criticism regarding its styling and perceived cost-cutting on interior materials, particularly for an SUV starting at $66,500 in the U.S. However, sales figures suggest that customer satisfaction remains high, as buyers continue to choose the model over online critiques.
Market Performance
Even with a slight dip of 7.9 percent in sales during Q4 2025, M models accounted for 9.8 percent of BMW’s total global sales. North America stood out as the leading market, with over 72,000 M vehicles sold.
- Strong sales were also recorded in Canada, Germany, South Korea, South Africa, the UK, and China.
- Switzerland showed remarkable figures, with M vehicles comprising nearly 25 percent of BMW’s total sales there.
Comments from BMW Executives
BMW M chief executive Franciscus van Meel stated, “Our 14th consecutive sales record validates our strategy. We will continue to offer performance and high-performance vehicles across the entire BMW model range, with fully electric, partly electric, and all-ICE powertrains.”
Overall BMW Sales in 2025
In total, BMW sold 2,463,715 vehicles globally in 2025, reflecting a modest increase of 0.5 percent compared to 2024. Electrified models, including plug-in hybrids and EVs, rose to 642,087 units, an increase of 8.3 percent. Fully electric models accounted for 442,072 of those sales, up 3.6 percent from the prior year.
