Munich. The BMW M range continues to garner acclaim from both enthusiasts and critics alike, solidifying its position in the competitive performance car market. In 2025, various prestigious awards highlight the prowess and appeal of the BMW M lineup.
BMW M5 Touring: A Class Leader
The BMW M5 Touring has made an impressive debut in its first full year on the market. It claimed victory in the esteemed “Golden Steering Wheel” competition hosted by Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag, outscoring all other competitors across every class. The model features a cutting-edge M Hybrid powertrain, combining a robust V8 engine with an integrated BMW eDrive motor, producing a remarkable 535 kW (727 hp) and delivering a versatile luggage capacity ranging from 500 to 1,630 litres.
Acknowledgement from Auto Bild Sportscars
Readers of German publication Auto Bild Sportscars awarded the BMW M5 Sedan the title of “Auto Bild Sportscars of the Year” in the “Executive and Luxury Class”. The model boasts fuel consumption figures of 17.6–17.2 kWh/100 km and CO2 emissions of 114–108 g/km (WLTP). Furthermore, it was honoured with the “Tech Award” for the “Most Innovative Plug-in Hybrids” category, as chosen by over 12,000 readers of auto motor und sport and MO/OVE.
BMW M Models Dominate Their Categories
The BMW M2 also emerged victorious in the “Compact Sportscars over 50,000 Euros” category, while the BMW X3 M50 topped the “SUVs up to 100,000 Euros” segment. The BMW M3 CS Touring was recognised as the uncontested leader in the “Compact Executive Class”, showcasing its blend of racing heritage and everyday practicality.
Sport Auto Awards Success
The BMW M3 further cemented its reputation by winning the “sport auto Award” in the “Sedans and Estate Cars up to 100,000 Euros” category, achieving 39.7% of the votes. Meanwhile, the BMW Z4 M40i with manual transmission took home top honours in the “Convertibles and Roadsters up to 100,000 Euros” class.
Recognition for Electrification Efforts
At the AutoVision Awards, BMW’s commitment to electrification was acknowledged with two OttoCars for the “BMW M Electrified” campaign. This initiative highlights the brand’s innovative approach to hybrid and electric models, including the BMW M5 plug-in hybrid and the all-electric BMW i4 M60 xDrive Gran Coupé, which boasts an electric range of up to 551 km (WLTP).
The campaign’s impactful multimedia efforts were awarded both the Silver OttoCar for excellence in corporate film and the Bronze OttoCar for brand image, reflecting BMW’s strategic focus on electrification and customer engagement.
