Renault presents the Filante, its high-end crossover for the Asian market.

Renault unveils its new crossover, the Filante, primarily aimed at South Korea. This model, inspired by the brand’s sporting heritage, promises to combine boldness and technology while fitting into the French manufacturer’s international strategy.

A name steeped in history

The name Filante is not chosen at random. It pays tribute to a revolutionary single-seater presented by Renault in 1956, which aimed to break speed records through innovations inspired by aeronautics. With speeds exceeding 300 km/h over distances of 1 and 5 km, this car left a lasting impression. Today, the Filante embodies Renault’s sporting heritage while looking towards the future.

This new crossover also echoes a recently presented electric prototype, which successfully traveled 1,008 km without recharging at an average speed of 102 km/h. An achievement that signals Renault’s intention to position itself in the electric vehicle market with exceptional performance.

A French-rooted SUV

The Renault Filante SUV will be assembled at the Busan plant in South Korea, where it will initially be marketed exclusively. This decision is explained by South Korea’s recognized expertise in the D and E segments, as stated by Nicolas Paris, CEO of Renault Korea. He specifies that “Filante is the second model of the new generation of Renault International Game Plan 2027 designed in Korea.”

This crossover aims to be both charismatic and bold, perfectly fitting into Renault’s identity while proudly claiming its French roots. Renault’s commitment to developing specific products for different markets outside of Europe is a crucial aspect of its strategy, and the Filante is a perfect example of this.

Official presentation and future of the Filante

The details regarding this highly anticipated model will be revealed during its official presentation, scheduled for January 13. This event will be broadcast on Renault’s digital platform: Renault event. Car enthusiasts and curious onlookers will thus be able to discover all the features of the Filante, which could very well transform the Korean automotive landscape.

By betting on bold designs and advanced technologies, Renault hopes to attract not only the Korean market but also other regions where the model could be exported later. The ambition is clear: to make the Filante a major player in the premium SUV segment.
